The Absolute Best Pancakes in Amarillo

The Absolute Best Pancakes in Amarillo

I have eaten pancakes in Amarillo long enough to know that most breakfast joints are just vehicles for syrup. Golden Waffle Company, despite the name, does not disappoint on the pancake front.

The staff refilled my coffee before I could ask, which is the highest compliment I can give. The atmosphere is calm, almost too calm for a place that claims the best breakfast in town.

I will not argue with the claim. The pancakes are dense, but not heavy, and they soak up butter like they mean it.

I returned twice in one week. That is rare for me.

Local favorite is accurate, and worth seeking if you hate disappointment.

Exceptional ham and hash browns
Fair prices, generous portions
Worth the short wait

Ye Olde Pancake Station sounds like a museum, but the pancakes are not relics. They arrive plate-sized, which is a problem only if you dislike leftovers. Mine were fluffy, with edges that crisp just enough to remind you they were cooked by a human. The coffee service was fast, almost aggressive. I appreciated that. The ham and hash browns were exceptional, but I did not come here for a balanced diet. The portions are generous, and the prices are fair enough that I did not feel robbed. There was a short wait, which I tolerated. I would tolerate it again. That says everything.
